Members of the Police & Fire Commission meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at the Sandwich Police Station located at 1251 E. 6th St.
Sec. 2-335. Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
There is hereby established in the city a board of fire and police commissioners, as is provided by statute.

Sec. 2-336. Bond of members.
Each member of the board of fire and police commissioners shall execute and deliver to the city a bond in the sum of $1,000.00 with such surety as the mayor and the city council shall approve, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of office.

Sec. 2-337. Appointive duties.
The board of fire and police commissioners shall appoint all officers of the police department of the city, except the chief of police, who shall be appointed by the mayor with the advice and consent of the city council from a list of qualified candidates submitted to the mayor by the board. All of such appointments to the police department other than that of the lowest rank, however, shall be from the rank next below that to which the appointment is made.

Sec. 2-338. Compensation of secretary.
The secretary of the board of fire and police commissioners shall serve without compensation for services.

Sec. 2-339. Compensation.
The annual salary for police commissioners serving on the police commission shall be as set by the city council.
